Friesians
The breed:
The Friesian horse is the only original Dutch bred horse. Friesian are considered “cold bloods”,
but already during the Spanish – Dutch eighty years war, it was influenced by Spanish horses. Through this influence the breed got it’s typical “baroque” appearance and elegance. In this respect it would be better to the Friesian has a much better match with Lipizaner, Andalusian, Lustiano en Kladruber horses.
Friesian farmers have used their horses on the field, but also for trotting races en to go to church on sundays “in style”
After the second world war the use in Agriculture decreased rapidly; resulting in a crisis for the breed in the early seventies. The breed however survived this struggle for existence and it grew enormously in popularity. Friesian horses can be found all over the world nowadays. Germany and the United States are important breeding areas, concurred by the black pearls of the equestrian world.
